Bolleras Prisons is a feature-length documentary directed by Cecilia Montagut that addresses the reality of women in prison from a gender perspective. Through the testimonies of former prisoners and researchers, the film makes visible the inequalities and forms of discrimination that cross the lives of women within the prison environment.
The documentary is based on the idea that prison can become a space where affective relationships and desires are transformed, giving rise to new forms of bonding and identity construction. In this context, lesbian desire appears as a possible form of resistance against an institution marked by control and imposed norms.
The screening will feature a subsequent colloquium, generating a space for reflection and dialogue around the experiences of women deprived of liberty and the different forms of resistance that arise behind bars.
This activity is part of the programme of Muestra•t, the cultural festival of MADO Madrid Pride, which celebrates its 20th edition this year.
