Within the framework of Muestra-T con ellas, a program that makes female referents in culture visible, this meeting seeks to broaden the collective imaginary by recovering the stories of women who marked medieval art… and who are still invisible to most people today.
Who were the creators, patrons or promoters who promoted some of the most relevant works of Romanesque and Gothic art in the Iberian Peninsula? How is it possible that their names are not in the history books? From the series of articles The Women of Medieval Art, published on The Conversation platform, we will explore 21 profiles that help to rewrite the official narrative from a fairer and more complete perspective.
Researcher María Dolores Teijeira Pablos (University of León) will talk with Claudia Lorenzo Rubiera about the origin of the project, the selection of figures, and the urgent need to recognize these voices. The colloquium will also serve as a preview of a stage project in development: four micro-theater pieces, to be premiered in March 2026, starring some of these inspiring women such as Egeria, Flora, Violante de Aragón and Aldonza.
Because we need more women in the cultural landscape. Because what is not named, does not exist. And because history was also written by them.
