The Institut français de Madrid organizes a great musical evening to celebrate International Music Day
The Institut français de Madrid celebrates a new edition of the Music Festival with a great night dedicated to perreo, dance and diversity. As part of the Pride in French cycle, the Institute’s courtyard will host a festive proposal open to the public on June 20 with the Parisian collective Divin0, which will transform the space into a dance floor where music and celebration also become tools for meeting and expression.
Launched in France in 1982 and now an international celebration, the Fête de la Musique is held every 21 June to coincide with the summer solstice, with the aim of bringing music closer to all audiences and vindicating its ability to unite people, generations and cultures. An event that celebrates diversity and community through all musical styles and that the Institut français de Madrid once again makes its own with an open and participatory program.
After receiving in previous editions such outstanding proposals as the Marseille collective Maraboutage, a benchmark of the European festive scene for its mixture of political commitment, diversity and global sounds, this year the spotlight will be on Divin0, an artistic project born in Paris that understands the festival as a safe, inclusive and collective space.
From 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., the public will be able to enjoy a session that will combine reggaeton, global perreo and live show with the participation of a drag host, two DJs and two dancers who will turn the night into an immersive experience where music, dance and performance will share the limelight.
Divin0 was born with the aim of creating safer spaces and making visible new ways of understanding reggaeton culture, integrating disciplines such as contemporary dance, hip-hop, waacking or street jazz. The group claims body positivity, body diversity and the creation of inclusive environments for the LGBTQIA+ community, always placing respect and consent at the center of its events. Her work also focuses on the representation of women and gender minorities within the music scene, building bridges between artists from Latin America, France and Europe.
In addition to the musical proposal, the day will feature different gastronomic spaces with French products and a selection of drinks and cocktails to complete a celebration that invites you to enjoy music as a place of meeting, freedom and community.
