Epicenos brings together the works of Arthur Couilles, Fernando Cancho, Gema Álvaro, Mar Amador, Natalia Dávila and Raúl Muñoz in a collective exhibition curated by Espacio Punto Nemo as part of the Muestra•t programme.
Taking as its starting point the linguistic concept of epicene names – those that designate animate beings without specifying their sex – the exhibition proposes a reflection on the categories, limits and ways in which we construct our view of people and identities.
The works presented dialogue with each other to address issues related to vulnerability, diversity and those realities that often remain invisible or difficult to name. Through different languages and artistic sensibilities, the exhibition proposes a meeting space where images invite us to question certainties, open conversations and generate new forms of understanding.
Rather than offering closed answers, Epicenes is presented as a journey through experiences, emotions and uncomfortable truths that find in art a tool for reflection, reparation and dialogue.
This exhibition is part of the official programme of Muestra•t, the cultural festival of MADO Madrid Orgullo, which celebrates its 20th edition by promoting spaces where contemporary creation becomes a meeting place for diversity, critical thinking and freedom of expression.
