With more than twenty awards and recognitions, Puños de harina returns to the stage with a proposal that combines interpretation and audiovisual language to address issues such as racism, homophobia, identity and violence.
The work intertwines two stories linked by boxing and gypsy culture. On the one hand, that of Rukeli, the German boxer of gypsy origin who challenged the Nazi regime in Hitler’s time. On the other, that of Saúl, a young gypsy from rural Spain in the eighties who seeks to find his place in the world while facing the prejudices of his environment.
Through both stories, Fiños de harina reflects on those who have had to fight against discrimination because of their origin, their culture or their sexual orientation, and on the pressure to fit into models of masculinity imposed by society.
This performance is part of the programme of Muestra•t, the cultural festival of MADO Madrid Orgullo, which celebrates its 20th edition this year.
