The National Museum of Decorative Arts participates in the Muestra•t programme with a thematic visit that invites you to discover how diversity and difference have been present in the decorative arts long before these concepts were part of contemporary debates.
Under the title Wonders and rarities. Diversity and difference as an added value in the decorative arts , the tour proposes a look at those pieces, styles and artistic manifestations that, precisely because they moved away from the common or the established, aroused admiration, curiosity and desire. The extraordinary, the singular or the rare appear here not as elements of exclusion, but as values capable of enriching artistic creation and transforming the way we understand the world.
On the occasion of the celebration of LGTBIQ+ Pride, this activity proposes to reflect on how societies have historically built the idea of normality and how what is out of the norm has been, on numerous occasions, a source of innovation, beauty and cultural change.
The activity requires prior registration through an online form.
This visit is part of the official programme of Muestra•t, the cultural festival of MADO Madrid Orgullo, which celebrates its 20th edition by bringing diversity closer to cultural spaces of reference and generating new readings on heritage, art and contemporary creation.
